New effort aims to solve Pizza Hut homicide
Team Cold Case, the Rocky Mount-based group formed earlier this year in an effort to solve the regionâs many cold case homicides, is targeting one with a Tarboro connection. A reward of up to $15,000 can be awarded for information that results in an arrest in connection with the Aug. 31, 1987, murder of 40-year-old John Roy Rieck. Rieck was manager of the Pizza Hut restaurant in Tarboro and was closing up the restaurant at about midnight on that Monday night.
