Pfizer and the Indian government are seeking to resolve tensions over a demand by the U.S. drugmaker for legal protection from any claims linked to the use of its COVID-19 vaccine in one of the world s biggest markets, two sources told Reuters.
India has not given any manufacturer of a COVID-19 vaccine indemnity against the costs of compensation for any severe side effects, which is a condition Pfizer has obtained in many countries where its shots have already been widely used, including Britain and the United States. ....

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that the country will resume the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Wednesday, 28 April 2021.

The use of the vaccines was suspended earlier this month following a similar decision by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States.
The reason for the suspension, given by both the FDA and Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize, was to give authorities a chance to re-evaluate a possible causal link between the vaccine and six cases in America where women developed blood clots in the brain, coupled with low platelets. ....

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) says it has written to National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise to request a debate on the country’s Covid-19 vaccine drive.
