The pioneers of this year’s Chron15 list have brought the University newfound athletic success, created new academic and research programs and helped grow Duke's vibrant arts culture.
Initially, it saw success. Within its first year, DMA distributed $46,546.07 to its community. After a series of forced closures starting in 2021, the group announced that it would go on an indefinite hiatus in October 2022, two years after its founding in 2020.
Duke Student Government senators swore in new DSG members and recognized senators and members of the University community for their contributions this year at their last Wednesday meeting of the 2023-24 academic year.
An organization that funds microgrants to Durham residents for projects benefiting the Durham community, Durham SOUP was inspired by the SOUP model created by InCUBATE, “a research group founded in Chicago focused on exploring new approaches to arts funding.”
Lattimore, a doctoral candidate in theology at the Divinity School, hopes to use his experience in working across boundaries to take an interdisciplinary approach to supporting the University’s priorities.
