Home » Latest News, Newsroom » HSJ NEWS RELEASE: HAWAII TASK FORCE RECOMMENDS PLAN OF ACTION FOR IMPROVING LAWYER WELL-BEING HSJ NEWS RELEASE: HAWAII TASK FORCE RECOMMENDS PLAN OF ACTION FOR IMPROVING LAWYER WELL-BEING Posted on Jun 1, 2021 in Latest News, Newsroom The task was formed in May 2019 by Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald in response to a National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being report entitled, “The Path to Lawyer Well-Being:  Practical Recommendations for Positive Change.” The Hawaii Task Force was asked “to review the recommendations of the National Task Force on how to address lawyer well-being issues, assess which recommendations can be implemented to address the unique needs of Hawaii’s legal community, and recommend how those proposals can best be implemented.”

A sidebar with… Arvin Pearlman Arvin Pearlman has a successful law practice, but that’s not the only way he helps people in need. He also serves as a substance abuse recovery coach to other lawyers. Pearlman Pearlman, who has been sober for several years now, became certified so he could help others fight and conquer their own demons. He said his wife gave him the push to consider a career in recovery coaching. He enrolled in a specialized program at Western Michigan University, earned a graduate certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling, and became certified as a Substance Abuse Recovery Coach.

Obituaries: Thomas J. Condon, 80; John R. Greene, 79; Alphonsus C. Murphy, 92; Jon R. Muth, 75; Thomas J. Condon, 80 Thomas Joseph Condon, former president of Urban Engineering, passed away at home surrounded by family and friends. He was 80. Mr. Condon, a graduate of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, received his undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and his law degree from the Detroit College of Law. Mr. Condon worked at Urban Engineering in Allen Park, beginning as a crew boss, then studying to become a registered land surveyor and, ultimately, becoming president of the company. Mr. Condon was the only registered land surveyor and attorney in the state of Michigan in the late 1970s. He loved spending his time outdoors and continued to survey local sites and landmarks until his recent retirement.
