In 1777, during the Revolutionary War, Kingston was briefly named the first capital of New York. Ninety miles north of New York City, at the base of the Catskills, Kingston is once again an up-and-coming Hudson Valley town, luring people from the city with its mix of antique stores, live music venues, restaurants and bars.
Whether you love or hate February 14, it is a day of bright colors and spontaneous desserts in the middle of a month of old, gray snow. For that reason alone, it has the potential to be something to look forward to even if just to break up the monotony of a Minnesota winter.
