CPEC: PM Imran Khan orders to resolve Chinese companies' complaints on priority basis--China Economic Net

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 28 (Gwadar Pro) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered the concerned cabinet members to remain in contact with the dozens of Chinese companies working in Pakistan under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to resolve their complaints on priority basis, a senior minister said.

Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar told Gwadar Pro that the PM had taken notice of the complaints by some Chinese companies that bureaucratic hurdles were hampering the quick completion of several CPEC projects, especially in the Balochistan province.

“The PM has asked the cabinet members to remain in contact with the Chinese companies and let him know if there is any bureaucratic hindrance,” said the federal minister. ....

MANSEHRA: The upper parts of Hazara received heavy rain and snowfall on Sunday, intensifying the division under severe cold.
The rain, which started in the early morning in parts of Mansehra, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas, continued intermittently the entire day. The second spell of snowfall, which was also started in Kaghan, Siran, Konsh and other valleys in Mansehra district and Kandia, Spat and other valleys in Upper Kohistan caused severe cold and blocked many arteries to traffic. Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road and many links roads are blocked because of the snowfall and landslide triggered by the rains. ....

MANSEHRA: The tehsil administration has warned hoteliers and other businesses to divert the sewerage lines from River Kunhar to anywhere else in Balakot and Kaghan valley, otherwise it would remove them through an operation planned to be launched shortly.
“Kaghan valley and its gateway Balakot are without doubt heavens on earth and we must join hands to stop environmental degradation there,” Assistant Commissioner Balakot Hamid Khan told a meeting attended by traders, hoteliers and transporters of Balakot, Garhi Habibullah here on Wednesday.
The official said that sewerage lines must be removed from the river. “We are also going to launch an anti-encroachment drive along Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad road and in Balakot and Garhi Habibullah,” he said. ....

Ex-chairman of journalism dept dies of Covid-19

MANSEHRA: A former chairman of journalism departments of two public sector universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Professor Syed Shaukat Ali, died of a novel coronavirus here on Tuesday.
He was hospitalised at the Combined Military Hospital Abbottabad last week after contracting the Covid-19 where he breathed his last.
The funeral prayer would be offered at his native Paras area of Kaghan valley at 1030 am today.
Colonel Syed Mohsin confirmed to the mediamen the death of his father.
Syed Shaukat Ali had laid the foundation for the journalism department at the Gomal University Dera Ismail Khan in 1974 and became its first chairman. ....
