Madal Virupakshappa was arrested by the Lokayukta police on charges of corruption after his son Prashanth Madal was caught red-handed while receiving a Rs 40 lakh bribe.
The Lokayukta police opposed the bail plea citing the need for further investigation into the KSDL bribery scandal during the period of BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa’s chairmanship.
BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa’s bail plea was dismissed after the Lokayukta police produced material to show his direct involvement in the bribery and corruption at KSDL, which the MLA headed till March 3.
