Angola awarded $250k OCRA grant

ANGOLA — Angola is one of 80 communities that will collectively receive $18.6 million in federal grant funding through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs’ COVID-19 Response Grant Program. Angola’s share will be $250,000, said a Monday news release announcing the recipients of OCRA’s COVID-19 Response Phase 3 round of funding. This comes after the city was awarded $250,000 through the same grant program last year. Beginning in April 2020, OCRA began addressing the pandemic’s impact on Hoosier communities using funds derived from Indiana’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act allocation. Last year, 112 grants were awarded to 96 communities, totaling more than $20.9 million.

Greg Abbott’s initial order not requiring masks. While the state regulation said Wolff couldn’t mandate mask wearing for residents, Wolff found he could require county businesses to insist their customers wear mas

Angola Council to seek more COVID-19 relief money

ANGOLA — Angola wants to make sure it has enough money to continue to help local businesses that have been impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so the Angola Common Council held a public hearing on Monday about applying for another round of grant funding from Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs. In order to obtain the grant, Angola has to commit $100,000 in local matching funds. The grant plus the local commitment would go towards the Angola Investment Fund’s COVID-19 relief forgivable loan program, established last year. The program helps qualifying local businesses pay for pre-approved business costs including payroll, thereby saving local jobs.
