Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony lied at least seven times about having a suspended license, state agency says.
FDLE’s legal counsel urged a judge to suspend Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony’s certification for six months — and order him to complete ethics training and a year of probation.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating whether Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony lied on an affidavit to become sheriff as well as "other undisclosed matters that will remain confidential," according to an affidavit filed Tuesday.
"If this abuse of power by government entities can happen to a duly elected sheriff, then it can happen to anyone," Darryl Daniels said.
In the statement, Daniels thanks the jury and and residents of Florida. He then goes on to say he had to "endure" abuse and overreach from the government.
