During the ongoing pandemic, Fox Valley Hands of Hope is offering many of its grief programs virtually. The nonprofit, founded in 1981, offers group programs, and family and individual counseling, with licensed clinical staff and dedicated volunteers.

Fox Valley Hands of Hope has come a long way since its early beginnings in the basement of a church back in 1981. First known as Fox Valley Hospice, then Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, and now Fox Valley Hands of Hope, the agency has experienced many blossoms in its illustrious tenure. What has remained constant in all of these years of service is their dedication to compassion, comfort, and hope. ....

Make-A-Wish Illinois seeks area volunteers

Every day, more children in Illinois are diagnosed with critical illnesses that would qualify them for Make-A-Wish. In fact, more than 100 wish children in Illinois are waiting for volunteers to help grant their wishes. Start the year off by enriching your life and others through volunteering as a wish granter for children in your area.
Wishes are happening now, and volunteers are needed in most Illinois communities to work with families in safely distanced ways following local, state and Centers for Disease Control guidelines.

Volunteers bilingual in Spanish and English are especially needed.
To become a volunteer, the first step is to attend a Volunteer Information webinar. The next sessions are: 5 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4; noon to 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18; 8 to 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 3; or 5 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 16. Sign up at wish.org/illinois/our-events. ....

DuPage, Kane and Kendall County youth can explore interests with 4-H virtual clubs and events

In February and March, the University of Illinois Extension-DuPage, Kane and Kendall is offering a variety of short-term clubs and one-time special learning events. Youth, age 8 to 18, can learn about dog care, skill training, fun tricks, and more in a six-week Dog Training Spin Club.

Marmion Academy hosts 30th annual Big Ticket raffle

Tickets are now on sale for Marmion Academy s 30th annual Big Ticket Raffle with a grand prize of $25,000.
Tickets are $100 each; only 1,000 tickets sold. The raffle is licensed by the City of Aurora.

The second to fifth-place prizes are $2,000; sixth and seventh, $800; eighth to 15th, $200; and 16th to 25th, $100.
There also are prizes for sellers. The seller of the Grand Prize ticket gets $2,500, and the sellers of the second to fifth-place tickets get $200.
Early bird drawings will be held Feb. 26 with one winner of $500; and April 15 with three winners of $200 each. ....
