THE FLATS – Making its 21st straight NCAA Championships appearance, the 11th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team opens tournament play this weekend, hosting first- and second-round action at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. The Yellow Jackets welcome Georgia Southern, North Florida and Ole Miss. NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS – ATLANTA REGIONAL ATTENDANCE There will be limited spectator attendance at the 2021 NCAA Championships Atlanta Regional, May 7-8, at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. In addition to each competing team’s pass list, a limited number of general admission seats will be available to fans, free of charge, and a limited number of seats will be available for students from each participating school with a valid school ID. The stands will be cleared in between matches on Friday, May 7, to moderate attendance.
No. 14 Jackets Host Boston College Sunday THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis returns to the court for its final regular season match on Sunday, welcoming Boston College in a rescheduled contest. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex. The 14th-ranked Yellow Jackets (14-9, 7-5 ACC) played their final two road matches this past weekend, bringing home a pair of wins from Louisville and Notre Dame. Tech upended the Cardinals, 5-2, before topping the Fighting Irish, 4-3. Riding a five-match win streak, freshman Mahak Jain clinched Tech’s win at Notre Dame from the five spot in a three-set battle. Jain boasts a 12-6 overall singles record and is 5-2 against ACC opponents.

Tech-Boston College Match Postponed THE FLATS – The women’s tennis match between No. 11 Georgia Tech and visiting Boston College, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 4, has been postponed. No makeup date has been announced. The Yellow Jackets will play host to Syracuse on Friday, April 2 at 4 p.m. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

Martin, McDaniel, Chopra and Pablo Schelcher each represented the Yellow Jackets in the Oracle ITA Division I Preseason Rankings released on Wednesday. McDaniel and Schelcher were slotted as the No. 31 doubles pairing in the nation, while Martin and Chopra ranked No. 41. Martin also appeared in the top 125 preseason national singles rankings, coming in at No. 59. Martin ranked as high as No. 60 in the 2020 Oracle/ITA Division I Men’s Singles Rankings prior to the cancellation of the 2020 season.
