The following interview, with Fyne Audio Technical Director Dr. Paul Mills and Managing Director Andrzej Sosna, conducted by Stereophile Contributing Editor Ken Micallef, was posted previously embedded in a report on Harmonia Distribution's rooms at AXPONA. Here, we present it on its own so that more people will see it. The video is followed by a transcript of the interview.
Ever notice that the language we use to talk about sound can be pretty aggressive? Reviewers often write about amplifiers "taking control" of a speaker, possibly "ironfisted control," especially if the amplifier in question happens to be a "juggernaut." Every product listed here has been reviewed in Stereophile. Everything on the list, regardless of rating, is genuinely recommendable. Within each category, products are listed by class; within each class, they're in alphabetical order, followed by their price, a review synopsis, and a note indicating the issues in which the review, and any subsequent follow-up reports, appeared. "Vol.46 No.7" indicates our July 2023 issue, for example. "WWW" means the review is also posted online.
A company new to me, Infigo Audio Inc. of British Columbia, paired its eye-catching Method 3 class-A monoblocks ($50,000/pair), Method 4 DAC ($35,000), Fluvius Streamer ($1750), and Sparkle Series cabling with Alta Audio's Adam loudspeaker (($17,000/pair in piano black, $18,000/pair in rosewood or beech; above). On a DSD track from the Global Percussion Network, timbres were beautiful on bass and high-pitched percussion. The chimes and vibes sounded special and clean, colors were plentiful, and deep bass was all-of-one-piece.
