Beamon Royston has been remembering the Great Gas Crisis this week - as Monday marked three decades since a gas surge caused fires and explosions across town. Scores of memories have come flooding in as Roystonians recounted the community crisis that nearly blew the town off the map on the evening of March 8, 1991. The enormous gas surge that headed into many of the towns homes caused explosions, including one at Greneway School, and fires - but also meant the town was sealed off and placed on red alert due to the threat of absolute devastation. Miraculously, the town remained intact.

Travis Bernard Thomas, Jr. was convicted in October of 2018, for the murders of Kenny Hart, Jr. and Jabrial Adams. Hart and Adams were shot to death in 2017 at Jus’ One More, a Warner Robins club that is no longer in operation. District Attorney George Hartwig was very pleased to get the opinion right before the holidays. “We certainly hope this will bring some closure and peace to the victims’ family members,” said Hartwig.

Travis Bernard "Shoota" Thomas Jr., 29, was found guilty at trial in fall 2018 in the March 2017 slayings of Jabrial Adams and Kenny Hart, who were shot and killed during a fight at Jus One More bar on Russell Parkway. Both life sentences carried no chance for parole. Thomas had appealed his convictions on grounds of insufficient evidence and wanted a new trial.
