Hamilton Lady Broncs Bow Out of State Tournament The Hamilton Lady Broncs hit a roadblock on their race through the State Class A girls high school basketball tournament in Great Falls Friday. They were outscored by a not-to-be-denied Hardin Lady Bulldog team by a score of 53 to 29. The Lady Bulldogs scored early and fast, leading 15 to 6 at the end of the first quarter. Hardin stayed on target and led 27 to 9 at the half. Hamilton continued finding a lid on the basket and were behind the eastern Montana team 43 to 14 after three quarters. For the final minute of the game Coach Griffin put the five seniors on the court to close out the 2021 basketball season for the Lady Broncs. The final score was Hardin 53 - Hamilton 29. ....
Hamilton Lady Broncs Drop First Game At State The Hamilton Lady Broncs came up against a high-scoring Havre Blue Pony team in their first game of the State Class A Girls Basketball Tournament in Great Falls on Wednesday. Hamilton lost the game, Havre 54 to Hamilton 37. The Blue Ponies jumped to an early lead and were ahead by 12 points at the start of the second quarter, 15 to 3. The Lady Broncs began to come back with scoring, but still trailed by 19 at the half - Havre 30 to Hamilton 11. In the third quarter Hamilton was stronger, especially with Kearns at the free-throw line, but Havre was still ahead 48 to 27 as the fourth quarter started. The final tally was Havre 54 and Hamilton 37. ....
Hamilton Lady Broncs Take 3rd Place in Divisional The Hamilton Lady Broncs earned the Third Place finish in the Western A Girls Basketball Divisional in Butte Saturday with a victory over Whitefish. The final score was Hamilton 31 Whitefish 28. Early in the game, Hamilton had a 9-point lead, 11 to 2, and kept the lead until the final minutes of the game, when the Lady Bulldogs sneaked on by and led by a couple of points in the final period. Hamilton, however, with good defensive plays and free-throw shooting brought home the win with the final score Hamilton 31 and Whitefish 28. The two teams may meet again, because they both will advance to the State Class A tournament in Great Falls, starting next Thursday, March 4. They will be joined by the first and second place finishers Columbia Falls and Ronan. ....
