Saturday, March 20, 2021 Back in January, the Purdy AmeriCorps Reading Coaches decided to sponsor a project in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We worked with students in grades K-5 to make cards for residents of Lacoba Nursing Home, said Renae Neill, reading Coach director. In addition to our local project, we also publicized it on the MLK Day of Service website and invited people from all over the United States to join us by reaching out to senior citizens who are facing loneliness in this season of Covid shutdowns.
