Olympic champion Štefanek retires following defeat at UWW Individual World Cup
Saturday, 12 December 2020
Final line-ups were decided in five Greco-Roman weight classes as the United World Wrestling (UWW) Individual World Cup in Belgrade got underway.
The event is taking place in lieu of the World Championships, which the Serbian capital was due to host before they were called off because of the coronavirus pandemic reducing the number of leading nations prepared to send a team.
Of the 10 athletes to earn final berths, four are Russian, including Olympic champions Roman Vlasov and Davit Chakvetadze.
Vlasov beat Viktor Nemeš - a Serbian former world champion - in the 77-kilogram semi-finals, and will face European silver medalist Zoltan Levai of Hungary in tomorrow's final.
