Although tourism has doubled in the past five years, news that the Faroe Islands are now on the green list, with direct flights restarting from Edinburgh with Atlantic Airways from 1 June, will ensure demand surges even more. Especially as it features in the upcoming new James Bond film,

This self-governing nation within the Danish kingdom currently receives 130,000 visitors annually, has a population of under 50,000 – and 70,000 sheep. Whether such an isolated archipelago of volcanic rock in the North Atlantic Ocean – centred between Scotland, Norway and Iceland, in a spot where it rains 300 days a year and is generally windy for longer – can handle many more visitors remains to be seen.
