The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Bison Range is among 310 grantees nationwide recently selected to receive an AARP Community Challenge Grant. The $20,000 grant will finance Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant amenities for tribal and community elders and mobility-challenged visitors.
With real traps, the researchers believe traps cause bears’ toes to fall off over a period of several painful months. While most of the bears could go on with normal lives, they face a lot of pain and could have challenges with digging or protecting themselves.
