Danbury resident Lydia Hodge earns top score at USA Gymnastics Connecticut State Championships Written by Ashley Anton On April 9th and 10th gymnasts from Kratos Gymnastics of Bethel participated in the 2021 Levels 4 & 5 CT State Championships. This was the first in-person, multi-club, competitive event for the gymnasts since the start of covid-19 in 2020. Collectively being some of the youngest participants in the state, the three gymnasts who represented Kratos executed standout performances. Nine-year-old level 5 gymnast Lydia Hodge of Danbury executed an exquisite performance on floor exercise which earned her the top score of the entire competition and propelled her to become the youngest level 5 State Champion of 2021! Despite falling on both uneven bars and balance beam due to a few “first meet back” jitters, Lydia continued onward with poise and elegance, displaying physical and mental strength throughout the competition; undeniably proving that she is a rising star. In addition to winning gold on floor, Lydia earned 5th place on uneven bars and 2nd place on the balance beam despite her falls on both events, as well as 3rd place all-around.
