There is a huge push to help Baltimore City restaurants in danger of closing. A virtual gala that could give a now Famous Fund enough money to keep more business is alive through the winter. “I’m hoping that we can just crush it and raise a lot of money for the fund,” said Kris Ruhling, presidet of Great 8’s Memorabilia .Ruhling is a Baltimore native who is passionate about keeping city restaurants alive during the pandemic. But it was partnerships with the likes of the Baltimore Ravens, 98ROCK and Jimmy’s Famous Seafood that shaped Ruhling’s “Save Baltimore 2021” fundraiser into the virtual event it has become. Ruhling is no stranger to charity work. The Baltimore native did nonprofit work frequently throughout his 15 years working in the auto industry, and when opened Great 8 Memorabilia, a Baltimore sports collectibles shop, last year, he imagined using the space to host fundraising and nonprofit events. ....
