Vadodara: When three members of a family from Rajgadh in Madhya Pradesh (MP)took ill and had symptoms similar to Covid-19, they rushed to Vadodara for treatment. This is not an isolated case, but there are many like them from as well as across the state. Around 2,000 patients from outside, mostly serious, have reach Vadodara hospitals.
An analysis by officials in wake of the surge in hospitalisation in the city revealed that there were patients in the city from 26 districts of the state and six states. Amongst states other than Gujarat, most patients came from MP, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

RT-PCR negative, but you may still be infected by coronavirus | Vadodara News

Vadodara: You may have tested negative in the rapid antigen testing (RAT) and then RT-PCR, which is considered gold standard for testing, too. Still, chances are high that you could be Covid-19 positive.
Doctors across the state are coming across an increasing number of cases where patients test negative in RT-PCR but their high-resolution CT (HRCT) reveals significant infection in the lungs.
The problem has become so acute that the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has issued a notification stating that the current strain of Covid-19 does not necessarily show a positive test on RT-PCR but the insurance companies and third-party administrators (TPAs) should treat them as Covid. “In cases where RT-PCR is negative but findings in HRCT and lab investigations are suggestive of viral etiology, the claim should be treated as that of Covid unless proved otherwise,” states VMC’s order issued under the Epidemic Diseases Act

Remdesivir to be sold at Rs 1,700, BJP city unit claims | Vadodara News

Gotri hospital staffer carries two ventilators in Vadodara on Wednesday
Vadodara: Even as the shortage of Remdesivir injections continued in the city, the city unit of the BJP claimed that the controversy regarding the pricing of the drug was settled with doctors, chemists and officials agreeing to ensure that it was sold for Rs 1,700 per vial. A formal notification in this regard is, however, still expected.
A meeting of the representatives of the chemist associations in the city was called by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Tuesday evening. VMC officials insisted in the meeting that the chemists should not sell Remdesivir vials in retail and the stocks should go to hospitals.

Not just finding bed, cashless treatment also a big challenge | Vadodara News

As many as 20 approvals were put on hold by TPAs in last three days
Vadodara: At a time when hospitalizations have doubled during the ongoing second wave of Covid-19 across major cities of Gujarat, finding a bed is not the only difficulty that patients are facing. A majority of private hospitals in the state are declining cashless treatment facility for Covid-19 to mediclaim policyholders.
The hospitals on their part say that third party administrators (TPAs) are delaying authorization letters as well as final settlements which even if approved are done with haphazard cuts in the final bills.
As many as 20 approvals were put on hold by TPAs in the last three days in Vadodara citing admission protocol notification that was issued by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC).
