A second suspect in the case of theft from the Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency reported to the Jefferson County jail and was released on bail just minutes later Sunday.

Dressed in a suit with a smile from ear to ear for his mug shot, former Urban Renewal Executive Director Maurice Taggart was briefly in custody at the Jefferson County jail Friday morning after an arrest warrant was issued Thursday on charges consisting of 46 counts of forgery, 38 counts of theft of property and one count of abuse of office.

The former director of the Pine Bluff Urban Renewal Agency was charged Thursday with 46 counts of forgery, 38 counts of theft of property and one count of abuse of office in a scheme that the Jefferson County prosecuting attorney’s office said bilked the agency out of $667,384.
