Late Thursday, police confirmed a body taken out of the water was that of the 59-year-old husband of the female victim and the father of the preteen girl
Four of the arrests occurred on July 25 and in one case saw a 29-year-old suspect taken into custody in the wake of the sale of a Glock 19 pistol and ammunition.
A car belonging to the family was found several hours later Thursday morning, next to the St. Lawrence River, about two kilometres from the house.
He has also been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and one count of carrying a weapon for dangerous purposes.
The Sûreté du Québec says it has reason to believe Jean-Élie Paul "would have had other victims in Montreal and on the North Shore."
