LAFARGEVILLE â Gene-Paul Brennan thinks the Jefferson County Board of Legislators needs a fresh set of eyes on it, and he wants to be the one to bring that change. Mr. Brennan is running as a Republican for Jefferson Countyâs Third District, which covers the towns of Alexandria, Orleans and part of LeRay. Heâs running against current Legislator Phillip N. Reed, and the two will face off in a primary election in June for the Republican Party line on the November ballot. As thereâs nobody else running, the June primary will likely decide who takes the seat. Mr. Brennan is a Jefferson County native, born and raised in Evans Mills. After graduating from Indian River High School, he got a paramedic associateâs degree from Jefferson Community College. He went on to take a job with Samaritan Medical Center for a number of years. ....
WATERTOWN â Peyton Lane S. Morseâs grandfather and great-uncle are demanding answers about how the young city firefighter died during a training exercise at the state fire academy almost two weeks ago. Ronald Morse, Peytonâs grandfather, and his uncle Stan Morse are so angry about the circumstances regarding how the fire recruit died that they drove to the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, near Watkins Glen, on Tuesday morning and picketed in front of the fire training school. They carried signs that read the fire academy was âdangerous,â accusing instructors of not responding in a timely manner during the medical emergency in which Peyton was found unresponsive in the March 3 incident. ....

(WWNY) - Fallen Watertown city firefighter Peyton Morse has returned home. The 21 year old died Friday after experiencing a medical emergency while training at the State Academy of Fire Science on March 3. Morse was training with a breathing apparatus, had problems, became unresponsive and was taken to a hospital by a state van, not an ambulance because there wasn’t one close by. An investigation is underway. The procession to bring Firefighter Morse home started from the Pennsylvania hospital where he passed away. ....

(WWNY) - Nearly 200 people gathered in front of the LaFargeville Fire Department Sunday evening to celebrate the life and legacy of Watertown firefighter Peyton Morse, who died at 21 years old on Friday. They lit candles, and sang âAmazing Grace.â People who knew Peyton knew he was special. âJust, his will to give,â said Jefferson County Deputy Fire Coordinator Bruce Reome. Morse was hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise on March 3rd. He had been participating in an 11-week training course at the State Academy of Fire Science Training in Montour Falls. ....
