David Brown's Lafourche death penalty case at Louisiana Supreme Court


Attorneys presented arguments to the Louisiana Supreme Court this week in the case of a Houma man sentenced to death in the slayings of a Lockport woman and her two children. 
On Nov. 4, 2012, David Brown, 41, of Houma, stabbed 29-year-old Jacqueline Nieves, and her daughters, Gabriela, 7, and Izabela, 1,raped Jacquelin and Gabriella and set the family’s apartment on fire.  
After unanimously convicting Brown on three counts of first-degree murder Oct. 30, 2016, a Lafourche Parish jury decided two days later he should receive the death penalty.  
District Judge John LeBlanc of Thibodaux formally sentenced Brown to death June 22, 2018, which marked the first death sentence handed down in Lafourche in over 40 years.    ....

Lafourche Parish Council appoints interim constable for Raceland area
LeBouef was the husband of incumbent Dwain LeBouef, who died March 20.
Constables serve eviction notices and paperwork for small claims. They serve as the officer for the justice of the peace court, in this case in Lafourche s District 2. 
Holly LeBouef was arrested in 2017 after police said she stole tens of thousands of dollars from the National Barrel Horse Association while serving as the local district president. The charges are still pending, according to the Lafourche District Attorney s Office.
She also ran for the District 5 Parish Council seat in 2016, losing to James Bourgeois by a 57-43 margin. ....
