On Friday evening, January 8th, Albanian police and militia ships rescued 50 Syrian refugees trapped in the Adriatic Sea, the northern region of the Mediterranean Sea. The refugees were travelling on an inflatable boat when high waves, bad weather, and engine trouble left them stranded for three hours, 60 miles south of Albania’s capital, Tirana.
