Adaptive 'high-definition' headlights are just around the corner for American drivers

Head-up displays have for some time enabled drivers to stay focussed on the way ahead. But now Ford engineers are trialling new headlight technology that could help ensure those behind the wheel literally keep their eyes on the road. 1
Ford said its new headlights can project speed limits, weather info and warnings onto the road to improve driver safety at night.
Rather than projecting data onto a head-up display, Ford’s high-resolution headlights can project it onto the road itself.
Information about speed limits, bad weather and navigation alerts is being incorporated into new projector headlights being developed by Ford in Europe.
