Pope, who will replace retiring principal Laura Huber, has 10 years of administrative experience, including being principal of Lemonweir Elementary School in Tomah, Wis., since 2012. Before that, Pope was special education director at the Cooperative Educational Service Agency No. 4. She also has six years of experience as a special education teacher. ....

(WKBT) Northside Elementary/Coulee Montessori principal Laura Huber was named this year’s Richard Swantz Leadership Award winner by the La Crosse Public Education Foundation. Huber was recognized for her leadership skills Monday at the grant award ceremony. Huber has promoted equity through a community school model and inspired staff to be trauma-informed educators who help children feel safe and supported, according to the School District of La Crosse. The award was named after the late Richard Swantz, who was known as an educator, council member and city leader in La Crosse. ....
