Details Of Appeal Filed By Nigerian University Lecturers, ASUU Against Industrial Court Judgment Ordering End To 7-Month-Old Strike

  Academic Staff Union of Universities has asked the Court of Appeal to set aside the ruling of the National Industrial Court asking the lecturers to call off their 7-month-old strike and return to the classroom. The order of the National Industrial Court was delivered on September 21, 2022, by Justice Polycarp I. Hamman. The suit dated October 14, 2022, and numbered NICN/ABJ/270/2022 has ASUU as the Appellant and the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Minister of Education as the Respondents. ....

  The Court of Appeal in Abuja has released a copy of the judgment that ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its ongoing strike. The certified true copy of the court proceedings was obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday. DOCUMENTS: Industrial Court Has No Evidence To Rule On Nigerian Students — Striking University Lecturers, ASUU Says In Appeal

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said the National Industrial Court lacks evidence to back its ruling that Nigerian students would lose several life-saving opportunities due to age increment caused by the current seven months’ strike action. The union made this known in the court documents filed before the Court of Appeal on Friday to challenge the ruling of the National Industrial Court which ordered them to end the lingering strike and resume classes on Wednesday.   ....
