Exactly how the crisis is to be resolved however is in dispute. Many within the education establishment feel the nation's schools can be i mproved only with increased federal spending. The evidence, however, argues otherwise. Data from the past three decades demonstrate that, as federal involvement in education has increased, educational quality has plummeted.
