Walton County commissioners sent a mixed-use proposal for U.S. 98 in Miramar Beach back to the drawing board in the face of community opposition.

A special Barnstable Planning Board meeting Monday focused on a proposed zoning amendment to allow certain dwelling units, or family apartments, as an accessory use to a single-family home.  An accessory dwelling unit is defined as a smaller residential dwelling located on the same lot as a stand-alone or detached single-family home, said Elizabeth Jenkins, Barnstable Planning and Development director.
