Local elections 2021: New Dorset police and crime commissioner


The Bournemouth businessman was elected with almost 27,000 more votes than second-placed independent candidate Dan Hardy.
Speaking after Friday s count, he said it was now time to walk the talk and deliver on his promises to cut crime and antisocial behaviour.
The result was confirmed at Friday s count, held a day after the May 6 election.
Mr Sidwick will replace Martyn Underhill, the independent who had held the role since 2012, after he decided against standing for re-election.

Conservative candidate David Sidwick is new Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner


He received 70,353 votes.
In second place was independent Dan Hardy who received 43,427 votes.
The result was announced this evening following counts in the Dorset Council and BCP areas.
28 per cent of people in the Dorset Council area turned out to vote in the Dorset PCC election.

BCP election candidates are confirmed

THE candidates for May’s elections have been confirmed with the publication of the statement of nominated persons by BCP Council.
Alongside the election for Dorset’s police and crime commissioner, two council by-elections will also take place on May 6 to replace the two councillors who died last year.
No vote will take place for the new Throop and Holdenhurst parish council with all of the seven candidates automatically elected due to the low number of nominees.
Five people will contest the police and crime commissioner election to replace incumbent Martyn Underhill who has announced he will not seek re-election in order to retire. ....
