NEW Dorset police and crime commissioner David Sidwick has tackled what he says are ‘myths’ about him.
He has also laid out his plans for the next three years which includes making police officers more visible in local communities and tackling organised crime.
“We are going to fight violent crime and high harm; we are going to tackle organised gangs and be tough on drugs and tackle those high harm incidents which are more hidden such as child abuse, domestic abuse and modern slavery,” he said.
He also promised rural crime being given a higher priority, which he said would lead to a doubling of the rural crime team this year, and may include the introduction of rural special constables. ....

DORSET’S new police and crime commissioner, David Sidwick, will be reporting on his initial days in office at his first panel meeting this week.
The Conservative won the post on a turn-out of less than a third of the population across the county, beating nearest rival, independent Dan Hardy.
Mr Sidwick, who is paid around £70,000 a year, will be at his first Dorset Police and Crime Panel which will meet online on Wednesday, July 7 at 10am.
His item, first of the agenda after the formalities, will include an outline of his police and crime plan and an overview of his first days in office since taking up the post in May. ....

The Bournemouth businessman was elected with almost 27,000 more votes than second-placed independent candidate Dan Hardy.
Speaking after Friday s count, he said it was now time to walk the talk and deliver on his promises to cut crime and antisocial behaviour.
The result was confirmed at Friday s count, held a day after the May 6 election.
Mr Sidwick will replace Martyn Underhill, the independent who had held the role since 2012, after he decided against standing for re-election.

NEW town councillors have been elected across Dorset, while residents voted overwhelmingly to support proposed Neighbourhood Plans which will shape the future of their communities.
