Storm Christoph: Firefighters rescue driver stuck in flood water

DRIVERS are being warned to take extra care on the roads today with Cheshire reeling from the effects of Storm Christoph.
The county has been battered by heavy rain this week, leaving some areas severely flooded, and roads are posing a major hazard to motorists.
Fire crews have been sent out to Lower Peover today, where a driver had to be rescued from a Peugeot 407 that was stuck in flood water.
Firefighters from Middlewich, Northwich and Lymm were sent out to the scene at Foxcovert Lane at 10.32am, while the driver was also assessed by paramedics. ....

Storm Christoph flood warnings and road closures this morning

STORM Christoph has left its mark on Cheshire this week with heavy rain, snow and severe flooding.
The Environment Agency has issued a number of flood warnings and alerts throughout Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich, Knutsford and Wilmslow.
Most of these remain in place today, January 22, as areas like Northwich recover from devastating floods on Wednesday and Thursday.
As of 8.20am, the following flood warnings remain in place:
River Bollin and Agden Brook at Little Bollington
River Weaver at Anderton
River Weaver at Navigation Road and Marine Approach, Northwich
River Weaver at Northwich Marina ....

BBC local radio comes together for Storm Christoph

BBC local radio stations across the North of England have aired additional progamming to provide updates on Storm Christoph.
In Manchester, with the River Mersey threatening to burst its banks in the early morning and evacuation orders being issued, BBC Radio Manchester sent journalists to some of the region’s hardest hit areas.
During the night its service was also broadcast by Radio Merseyside and Radio Lancashire.
Allan Beswick remained on air until 2am, when reporter Emma Goswell took over to present a special show focusing on the flooding until 6am.
Anna Jameson reported overnight from Wythenshawe Forum and Didsbury Mosque, where people were being offered shelter. Then, she headed to Little Bollington for the Breakfast Show as further flood warnings were being issued. ....
