More than 21 months after the original Interstate 10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway project was declared “dead,” a new bridge proposal is officially back in the plans.
The Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Commission, with a unanimous vote Wednesday, approved placing an alternative I-10 truck bridge project into its long- and short-term plans. The vote comes one week after the Mobile Metropolitan Planning Organization agreed to similar measures which now means multi-phased approach to addressing the interstate’s traffic congestion moves to the Alabama Departme ....

LOXLEY, Alabama Loxley resident Mary Calhoun got a big surprise when family and friends gathered to celebrate her 106
th birthday on Saturday, April 10 at her home just off Jenkins Farm Road in Loxley.
“People came from everywhere,” said Calhoun, who officially turned 106 on Tuesday, April 13, “most of them I knew. There were even a few I didn’t know.” ....

Loxley council actions pave way for ALDI warehouse

LOXLEY, Alabama The Loxley Town Council paved the way for the construction of an office and warehouse space in the town’s industrial park for national grocery retailer ALDI with a pair of actions at its monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 8.
On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Loxley Mayor Richard Teal and Town Council members joined county, state and national officials for a groundbreaking ceremony for ALDI’s new regional headquarters and distribution center, which is located at the intersection of County Road 49 and Industrial Park Drive, just north of Interstate 10.
The upcoming 564,000-square-foot office and warehouse will support ALDI’s growth throughout the Gulf Coast. The project is set to bring approximately $100 million in capital investment in Baldwin County, with plans to create more than 200 local jobs. ....
