February is Black History Month, and all month long, 10 News will be telling the stories and honoring the legacies of notable figures from our region.

Lucy Addison will be dismissing its students early due to a power outage, according to Roanoke City school officials.

Roanoke City Public Schools went from seven school resource officers in the 2021-22 academic year to 26 now, plus additional 20 school security officers.

"The kids are so excited," said one of the school administrators involved with the projects.
