The Lynn Interim Station opened to passengers as work continues on a permanent improvement project.
The trains will run between Lynn and Boston’s North Station every 30 minutes during the week and hourly on weekends.
The MBTA says the updated work was able to be completed ahead of schedule due to a new interim platform design that could be completed quickly and safely.
Commuter rail service is scheduled to return to Lynn Monday after more than a year of disruptions.
