But she was also thrilled for those who stood up with her. “I’m happy, very happy with the win,” Ella said. “I also feel good for the ones who came second and third and everyone.” Ella, from Mackay, won the 7-12 years girls Fashions on the Field, one of three rounds at the first Saturday race meet for the year. ....

More than 1000 residents in Mackay are understood to have signed on to the claim. The firm said the claim was filed in the Federal Court of Australia on Wednesday. The class action is seeking to recover compensation for any customers who paid for electricity between January 20, 2015 and January 20 this year. North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation announced Wisely Services Pty Ltd as the principal contractor for its Bowen Wharf repair project. Conducted as part of NQBP’s maintenance and repairs program, the project includes the repair or replacement of some of the wharf’s timber members. NQBP chief executive officer Nicolas Fertin said the repairs would ensure the wharf remained available to the public and continued to provide temporary towage infrastructure for Abbot Point’s towage operations. ....
