Premium Content Subscriber only Mackay residents can poke around for their new passion in a one-stop shop at the Mackay Volunteers Expo on Sunday. More than 50 stalls will be set up at the Big Shed Pavilion at Mackay Showgrounds as organisations showcase their work and find new recruits. The Mackay Regional Council organised event was developed to encourage local volunteering opportunities and provide community groups with promotion and exposure while celebrating the work of existing volunteers. Deputy Mayor Karen May, a proud volunteer in her own right, was excited to have an opportunity to help locals to find their passion. ....
 That call was answered by clubs including from Seaforth, Sarina, Marian, St Helens, Northern Beaches, North Mackay, Suburban and Wests, with about 71 players registering. It was an unprompted gesture that bowled over Wests Tigers Bowls Club president Scott Grayson. It is a great response from everybody, he said.  There has been a huge response from other clubs and through sponsorship. Because of the happenings at the front door, we thought it would be a bit of fun and (Wests Leagues Club) has been really great to us. He said sponsors came through with cash donations, vouchers and other items to be raffled off with proceeds going to the club. ....
