SHOWS US WHAT’S CHANGED? MOST HIGH SCHOOLERS ARE NOT USING FLIGHT SIMULATORS AND TAKE A LOOK AT THIS A SUCCESSFUL DRONE LIFTOFF BY THESE TWO ATHERTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. THEY SAY I HAVE THE COOLEST TOYS IN THE BUILDING SO I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH THAT THE SCHOOL’S LEAD ENGINEERING INSTRUCTORS SAYS ALL THESE EYE-CATCHING GIZMOS ARE TO THE SUPPORT AND INVESTMENT BY THE JCPS SCHOOL BOARD JUS EVERYTHING THE 3D PRINTERS. IT’S JUST BEEN ALLOWED OUR KIDS TO DO THINGS THAT WE NEVER THOUGHT WOULD BE ABLE TO DO MADISON. HANDLEY IS A JUNIOR EXCITED TO STEER THIS SIMULATOR IN PERSON NOW THAT THE OPTION FOR HALF THE WEEKEND CLASS AND HALF ONLINE IS OPEN TO JCPS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ALL YEAR. WE’VE TALKED ABOUT IN PARTS OF THE PLANE AN LIKE USE THE FLIGHT SIMULATORS TO PRACTICE THAT OUT WITH HER EYES SET ON POTENTIALLY MAJORING IN CIVIL OR AEROSPACE ENGINEERING. SHE CALLS THE SWITCH FROM VIRTUAL LESSONS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THIS CLASS. I THINK IS A VERY HANDS-ON CLASS AND THAT’S A BIG REASON AS TO WHY I PICKED IT BECAUSE IT IS SO HANDS-ON SO IT BEING VIRTUAL MADE THAT A LITTLE BIT MORE DIFFICULT THE ONE POINT ONE MILLION DOLLAR RENOVATION IS NOT LIMITED TO THE SCHOOL’S ENGINEERING PATHWAYS STUDENTS. THIS USED TO BE A A LOT OF THORIUM THERE USED TO BE A STAGE UP THERE A THEATER STAGE AND THIS WAS THE AUDIENCE SEATING WE’VE NOW TURNED IT. TO A TWO CLASSROOM HEALTH SCIENCE SUITE THE PRINCIPAL SHOWED US SEVERAL INVESTMENTS IN HEALTH SCIENCES AND MEDIA ARTS PATHWAYS AS WELL THESE ADDITIONS AND MORE CHANCES TO GAIN COLLEGE CREDIT OR WORK WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS ARE DRUMMING UP EARLY CAREER INTEREST AMONG STUDENTS. I THINK IT HELPS PREPARE US FOR LIKE THE REAL ALL THAT. I MEAN, WE’RE ALREADY GETTING FLIGHT TRAINING AND WE’ ONLY IN HIGH SCHOOL FRANKLY SINCE WE STARTED IT.
