Pulitzer Prize winner Isabel Wilkerson has written two critically acclaimed books that focus on the Black experience in America:
Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents and
The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America s Great Migration. On Jan. 25 she will be the keynote speaker for UW-Madison s virtual Martin Luther King Jr. symposium. The work to fulfill Dr. King s vision of racial equality continues today, and Wilkerson is carrying on this work, says Chancellor Rebecca Blank. Dr. Cheryl B. Gittens, UW–Madison interim deputy vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion & chief diversity officer, was included among more than a dozen UW alumni and staff on Madison365‘s list of “Wisconsin’s Most Influential Black Leaders” for 2020.
