Clemson, S.C.-Clemson rising senior Alexandra Swayne finished sixth among amateurs and fourth among active college players at the 2021 U.S. Women’s Open at The Olympic Club late Friday evening. Swayne missed the cut by four shots with a score of 152 for the first 36 holes, but was tied for sixth out of 31 amateurs. Maga Ganne, a high school golfer from New Jersey, was the top amateur after two rounds with a 138 score, just two shots off the lead. The only college players ahead of Swayne after 36 holes were Maja Stark of Oklahoma State (141), Gurleen Kauer of Baylor (144) and Rachel Heck of Stanford (147). Not only did Swayne finish tied for sixth among amateurs, she finished ahead of 34 professionals, including LPGA stars Cheyenne Woods, Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, Michelle Wie West, and Sung Hyan Park.
