County officials elected in the November general election were sworn in by District 1 Supervisor Larry Vest on Dec. 28. At the most recent Tama County Board of Supervisors meeting on Dec. 28 the four county officials elected in November’s general election were sworn in. Newly elected District 2 Supervisor Bill Faircloth joined District 3 Supervisor Dan Anderson, Tama County Sheriff Dennis Kucera and County Auditor Laura Kopsa in taking the oath of office, administered by District 1 Supervisor Larry Vest.

The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors held their regular session on Tuesday in the public meeting room at the Des Moines County Courthouse. The meeting was live-streamed on youTube and on the County website.
Chair Thomas Broeker and supervisors Bob Beck and Jim Cary were joined by a handful of department heads.

Sheriff-elect Kevin Glendening said jail numbers this week are 77, with seven out-of-county and three out-of-state inmates waiting for space at a halfway house and the Iowa Medical and Classification Center at Oakdale in Johnson County.
The main role of the IMCC is to serve as a reception and classification center for adults bound for prison.
