This miscalculation cost the boatie a $400 tow â as he was not a member of VMR â back to Whisper Bay boat ramp. âItâs too late to become a member after you had just run out of fuel,â the organisation said in a post on social media. It is the second time this has occurred in 2021. Mr Priday said it also happened seven times in 2020. âThe worst one we had ⦠mum and dad and a child ran out of fuel on the way back from the reef 30 miles from Airlie Beach. Itâs putting everyone on that boat at risk,â he said.
