For a vote during a special election in august. even the republicans in ohio themselves recently passed a law outlined the majority of august special elections, not to mention, a bipartisan group of ohio election officials formally voted to oppose the republican bill, because they don t want to run a statewide election in august. the republicans play his being challenged in court. it s clear what s going on here, right? a maneuver designed explicitly to motivate hard-core antiabortion proponents to come out in the dead of summer, and a low turnout election, so they can move the goalposts and make it nearly impossible for a simple majority of all hands to decide to secure abortion rights in their state. no one has been quite ugly this movement of anti democratic anti authority important policy for the state more than david pepper he s the author of laboratories of autocracy, a wake up call from behind the lines. and the new book, saving democracy, the users manual for every american. he ....

Had to provide the budget. do you think the white house should ve played a bit of a harder ball when it comes to budget? you know, i think from the presidents perspective on this, symone, he recognizes that speaker mccarthy does not have a significant amount of room to maneuver with the republican caucus. we know this well. i think the speaker has done the best he can, or could, with republicans who are under his leadership. we know it only takes one vote to call his speakership in the question. i think biden is a smart guy. he s been around a long time, been through the process a lot. i think you still see some room potentially for him to maneuver, try to meet the speaker somewhere. i think this is win-win for the president. i think it s even win-win for mccarthy to figure this out. and i hope as they will before june 1st. i think we have basil. back basil, you will get the last word on this. what are your thoughts? no, i absolutely agree. i think this is ultimately a win for jo ....

Biden to invoke the 14th amendment and try to avoid a default. thats according to two sources familiar with the matter. house democratic leaders are trying to use a maneuver called a discharge petition. they need five republicans to do that. it would force a vote to just cleanly raise the debt ceiling. they need 218 members to sign off on that. so far, they only have 210 votes for that. where does that go? where do the american people stand on national spending? should that be tied to the debt ceiling being raised? this is a really interesting new number out from the new cnn poll this morning. it shows 60% of americans do feel that congress should only raise the debt ceiling if it also includes spending cuts which kaitlan i think is fascinating. it includes independents as well. those aring e interesting numbers. they re trying to make the argument who have is to blame if these talks aren t productive. we ve seen how precarious that has been. also happening right now, the ....

Is going to be quite successful. i think that the russian forces have been beaten up badly. they are not cohesive or coherent in terms of command and control. the russian commanders have been replaced every few months and individual replacements that are not well equipped or trained, and the units are not disciplined and they will have to draw under pressure of this ukrainian offensive the most possible tactical maneuver, and i don t believe they will do well at that. the ukrainian forces have not been in combat 15 straight months the way that the russians have, and these units have not sustained losses that the russians have, and they have been in training in eastern poland, u.k., germany and elsewhere and very well equip and disciplined and cohesive and fighting for ukraine s war for independence. so the implications are going to be substantial. i think that the ukrainians are ....

Then we talked about thinly stretched. you saw the ukrainian troops training. you just returned from europe. what did you learn? erin, i learned a couple of things. one is that the primary focus of the ukrainians is to move from the war of attrition, to one of maneuver or mobility. that means trying to punch through russian lines, identify weak spots on russian lines. using satellite imagery, intelligence, the other waves, make sure ukrainians have logistics they can get up to front line forces that have punched through, spare parts, munitions, fuel. that s a critical part. so speed and mobility are key parts of this counter offensive campaign right now. they re obviously prepared to do it. let me ask you, michael. putin is at the same time cracking down on what soldiers ....
