The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Tuesday approached Twitter demanding that it affix the ‘manipulated media’ tag to tweets and retweets of 11 Union ministers in the same way that the microblogging site tagged BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra’s tweet alleging a Congress Covid ‘toolkit .
Surjewala said, It is a matter of fact that people tend to believe true and take on face value, any information that is put up directly by a Union Minister of the Government of India through his/ her official/ verified Twitter account. ....

Government asks Twitter to remove Manipulated Media tag on tweets in Congress toolkit case, slamming the microblogging site for unilaterally drawing a conclusion.
The Centre on Friday objected to Twitter for using Manipulated Media tag for tweets on toolkit to defame government s Covid-19 efforts and asked the microblogging webiste to drop the tagging as the matter is pending investigation before the law enforcement agency.
The government has said that the investigation will determine the veracity of the content not the Twitter. The Centre has also asked Twitter not to interfere in the investigation process. ....

Twitter action validates our stand that BJP manipulated media: Congress

The Congress Friday said its stand on the Covid toolkit issue stands validated after Twitter used the manipulated media tag for BJP leaders Sambit Patra s tweets on the alleged Opposition party document on how to target the Centre over its COVID-19 handling.
The Congress reaction came even as the government asked Twitter to remove the manipulated media label, saying the matter is pending before the law-enforcement agency.
Congress leader K C Venugopal said, The Congress stand has been validated by Twitter s action itself. What the Congress has been telling for the last so many days and years about the BJP s false propaganda and spreading lies is actually validated by this single incident. ....
