Column: 2021 is going to be a bounce-back year in Richland County


Some call the start of a New Year a new beginning. Blank pages. Fresh canvas.
The reality is the turn of a calendar page into 2021 simply marks the man-made passage of time. Nothing is true today that was false on Dec. 31, 2020. We cannot check our problems and challenges at the door of the old year as we enter the new one.
If I have learned anything in my near 60 years on this Earth, the continuance of time and its ongoing issues are are incontrovertible facts.  
My talented colleague, Katie Ellington, offered a wonderful year-in-review earlier this week, a piece that revealed the huge, caring hearts of this community, allowing us to weather the storm of the past 12 months together. ....

Debt Recovery Solutions of Ohio & DRM Productions Inc. win Small Business of the Year Awards


MANSFIELD ─ Kathy Shambre said her company became a “star” with the 2020 Small Business of the Year Award.
Her business, Debt Recovery Solutions of Ohio, won the honor of the 15-and-more employee category on Wednesday. The winner for the 14-and-less employee category was DRM Productions Inc.
The awards ceremony was hosted by the Richland Area Chamber and Economic Development and live-streamed on its Facebook page due to the pandemic.   
Chamber President and CEO Jodie Perry said DRS of Ohio takes great care of its employees and is actively involved in the community. The company has prospered in the area for nearly 20 years and “shown no signs of slowing down.”   ....
