DUBLIN -- Pandemic lockdowns coincided with "significant" falls in crime rates in 27 cities across 23 countries, according to academics from the University of Cambridge and the University of Utrecht. Daily crime counts before and after COVID-19 restrictions were implemented in major metropolitan areas such as Barcelona and London show that while stringency of lockdowns varied considerably from city to city, most types of crime fell significantly.
