Suffering horses could not be saved, says SPCA
Some community members are outraged at the way they say the East London SPCA euthanised three emaciated, tick-infested and severely injured horses on a smallholding. The Dispatch has seen the SPCA’s photographs of the emaciated horses that showed shocking tick infestation and gaping wounds, some of which were crawling with large white maggots.

NSPCA obtains order interdicting spread of defamatory, false statements
The National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) said on Monday it successfully obtained a Johannesburg high court interdict against Shane Cooper, Yusuf Ismail, the South African Debate Initiative, Titon Arc Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Loving Life Television, and the Pit Bull Special Victims Unit SA.

Live animal exports: Eastern Cape feedlot manager arrested after mutilating 126 export rams with angle grinder
The rams were part of a shipment to Kuwait on a converted car carrier, the ageing Al Messilah, and scheduled for live slaughter. They were confiscated by the NSPCA and moved to a place of safety where they were provided with veterinary treatment.
