According to the study which Galli leads, the note---which is from 1446---describes a previously unknown swarm of earthquakes that had struck the Marche region in the central Apennines.
It was written on the leaf of a prayer book from the 15th Century.
The note is the only evidence of a damaging earthquake in the Marche region from the 15th century.
